Cimarron is extremely fortunate in having several State and Federal highways serving the community from four different directions.  U.S. Route 64 is part of an important route which traverses northern New Mexico between Raton and the Four Corners area and passing along the main commercial street in the village.  New Mexico Route 58 is a link between Cimarron and Interstate Route 25 where the nearest interchange is only 15 miles to the southeast at French Corners.  New Mexico Route 21 starts in Cimarron and passes through the Philmont Scout Ranch, Rayado and thence to Springer.  NM Route 21 is paved the entire way with possible future enhancements such as pedestrian paths.  These arterials are extremely important in attracting tourists to the Cimarron area and establishing Cimarron as a collecting point and stop along the highway for many tourists, particularly during the summer months.
