The street system in Las Vegas is composed of four major streets that function as arterials (New Mexico Avenue-Hot Springs Boulevard (NM65), Seventh Street (NM518), Grand Avenue (US 85), and Mills Avenue and numerous local roads.  The major arterial streets are currently maintained by the State Highway and Transportation Department, while local streets are maintained by the City of Las Vegas Roads Department.
