Resolution No. 2006-02
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING GOVERNOR RICHARDSON’S INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIP TWO (GRIP II)
WHEREAS, the Northeast Regional Planning Organization is made up of twenty eight local governments within the seven counties of Colfax, Guadalupe, Harding, Mora, Quay, San Miguel and Union; and
WHEREAS, the Northeast Regional Planning Organization was established by the New Mexico Transportation Commission in order to develop an on-going planning process for statewide project programming, serving as a forum that elicits informed recommendations for multimodal transportation and enhancement projects; and
WHEREAS, Governor Richardson’s Investment
Partnership II was facilitated through the Regional Planning Organization
process in collaboration with the New Mexico Department of Transportation in
order to identify the critical transportation needs of local governments; and
WHEREAS, this process identified the most
significant transportation priorities of one hundred and thirty nine local
governments statewide;
WHEREAS, House Bill 833 relating to capital expenditures authorizing the issuance and selling of severance tax bonds for the creation of a GRIP II funding was created in the 47th New Mexico State Legislature; and
WHEREAS, House Bill 833 expired in the Conference Committee of the 47th New Mexico State Legislature.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE NORTHEAST REGIONAL PLANNING ORGANIZATION THAT:
This board fully supports the funding of Governor Richardson’s Investment Partnership II which reflects the critical needs of local governments statewide; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT:
The Northeast Regional Planning Organization requests that GRIP II be funded during a special legislative session.
